Milo's first Visit to the Vet!
Yesterday evening Josh and me took Milo to the vet to get his vaccinations and whatnot. This was his first time.. now I know how a mother feels.. oh my gosh.. before I continue I know my mother is probably reading this and scoffing loudly.. a kitten can never be a child.. but.. Milo.. is kinda my kid.. I’m responsible for his upbringing (is he gonna be a sociable and affectionate cat or a reclusive crazy psycho cat that never lets anyone handle him? is he gonna be a toilet trained cat or is he going to pee and poo all over the place? Will he let anyone pick him up or scratch/bite at first touch?) I am also responsible for him financially… which… is burning a hole in my pocket.. damnit…. what with the desexing and the vaccinations.. though I didn’t ask for him, but neither will I give him up for the world nor shirk away from this responsibility, because he is mine!! And I love him!! haha
Let me start from the beginning..
Josh rocked up at 6.15pm (Milo’s appt was at 6.30pm). To make matters worse, Milo seemed to know that I was trying to catch him and put him in a box! So, especially since its his first time out of the house since he’s arrived.. as we were trying to shove him in the car he suddenly broke loose and ran across the road onto the neighbour’s front porch. (Okay at this time imagine me panicking (what if a car ran over my baby!?!!) and chasing Milo across the street) haha I think Josh was laughing in his head but he had the good sense not to say anything till later). Finally Milo kinda stopped at the neighbour’s porch and just looked at me pathetically and started meowing. So I was able to pick him up and put him in the backseat, of which he promptly crawled under the carseat and stayed there the entire time just looking at me with those puss-in-boots eyes.. like I was doing this to him.. I couldn’t even dislodge him because he dug into the mats.
When we got to the vet, I didn’t even need the box, I just held him in my arms, like how u hold a baby upright, and then when we were waiting, he kinda just lay in my arms like a sleeping baby, and he wouldn’t let go of me. He was so brave, even though there were dogs around.. he’d just like.. look at me like I would protect him..
He now weighs.. 0.998 kg!! haha yay!! Almost double his weight (he weighed 500 grams when Joy first got him) haha. But he’s still little at 8 weeks old..that means he was born on then 2nd week of Dec 07 !! have to throw him a party!! Haha.
Anyway, when he was put on the vet table, he kept on trying to get back to me.. he kept trying to get into my arms.. I was like.. Awwwwww!!!! U seriously should have been there.. he was so cute!!
So you ask.. what did he get?!
He got a thermometer stuck up his bum.. twice.. cos both the vet and the nurse took his temperature.. and he yowled and was so freaked out and scared. Also, he got an injection for vaccinations. When the needle came out I was like.. OMG.. is it gonna hurt!!?!!! AND, he got force fed a pill for de-worming.
Then after, he would not let go of me, and Josh had to hold him for abit whilst I paid for the whole thing.. then for the ride home he found his “Happy Place) inbetween my neck and the headrest, and he stayed there the entire ride just crouched there. Was like a pillow on my head!! Hahaha except I couldn’t move..
But I think he was traumatised and freaked out, though he seems happier when he got home.. last night he just crouched under my bed and wouldn’t come out (he normally sleeps at the foot of my bed, or snuggles next to me. Lets hope he gets over it, cos in 3 weeks we have to do all this over again…..
deb's outta there..
